Organic Shopping Guide China

The domestic market for organic food in China is still small but growing. On the one side the number of organic food products in retail shops is increasing. On the other side more retailers and also restaurants are offering organic food. In order to make your organic shopping easier the BioFach China project has started to develop the Organic Shopping Guide offering information where to buy organic food in China.

Four main categories have been built:
 
1. Supermarkets: 
Conventional retail chains offering organic food as an additional product range to conventional food.

2. Organic Stores:  
Specialized stores and/or supermarkets offering only organic food (sometimes mixed with conventional products as the number of organic products is still limited).

3. Restaurants: 
The restaurants offer at least one organic meal or use some organic ingredients for the preparation of food.

4. Farmers Markets: 
Organic farmers sell directly to consumers (wet markets, local markets).
 
The Organic Shopping Guide is done in co-operation with the information portals efarm (www.efarm.com.cn) and Greenchoice (www.greenchoice.cn).
