Interest in organic food, natural cosmetics and natural textiles is growing unabated. Although more and more producers are trying to meet this steadily increasing demand in their own country, imports are gaining in importance. Evidence for this trend is the fact that BioFach China is becoming increasingly international: in 2011 13 % of the manufacturers came from abroad. The reason is that, as well as the domestic market growing, organic markets in the west have an increasing need for organic raw materials. In the last five years BioFach China has expanded rapidly. More than 14,500 visitors (+ 27 %) and 342 exhibitors were the record figures registered at the anniversary event in May 2011. Many participants praised the professional nature of the fair. For the sixth BioFach in Shanghai, NürnbergMesse China is expecting around 15,000 visitors and more than 350 exhibitors, and the exhibition area is likely to be much bigger too.

<a10:updated>2011-12-18T01:17:10+01:00</a10:updated>

Closing Report BioFach China 2011: Successful 5th anniversary

BioFach China from 26th to 28th May 2011 in Shanghai celebrated its fifth anniversary with a 27% increase in visitors. 14,613 (2010: 11,526) international organic product sector players travelled from 33 countries to what was so far the most successful edition of the only trade fair for certified organic products in China. BioFach China, the International Organic Trade Fair and Conference and daughter of the world-leading BioFach exhibition in Nürnberg, has developed splendidly since its premiere in May 2007. The event has long come of age and has encouraging growth to show for the number of exhibitors and visitors every year. The organizer, NürnbergMesse China, expects the number of exhibitors at this year’s edition to grow to some 350 (2010: 313) and an appreciable increase in the space booked (2010: 3,800 m²). The upward trend is also clearly shown by the Chinese domestic organic market and the export figures. There is an increasing demand for organic in China and internationally.

<a10:updated>2011-03-15T10:02:32+01:00</a10:updated>
